South Korea: Another chemical leak at a Samsung plant

On Apr. 14, chlorine gas leaked at the Samsung Fine Chemicals plant located in Ulsan South District’s Yeocheon neighborhood. 6 workers were hospitalized after inhaling the gas, which spread from the Samsung plant to nearby factories.

The leak was originally identified around 10:30 a.m. by factory workers who called the police after detecting “a strange smell that caused headaches”. Emergency workers moved Lee, 34, and one other employee from Samsung Fine Chemicals and four other employees from a nearby company to the hospital. The patients first experienced nausea and difficulty breathing but recovered and were sent home. Samsung Fine Chemicals evacuated all of its employees after the incident.

Raymond Sean Clark Charged with Murder

A homeless man suspected of setting a man on fire in a car outside a Southern California convenience store has been charged with murder.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say 38-year-old Raymond Sean Clark was charged with murder with special circumstances.

He remains jailed and prosecutors will decide whether to seek the death penalty.

Authorities say 63-year-old Jerry Payne was sitting in his SUV outside a Long Beach 7-Eleven when Clark walked up and tossed a flammable substance inside the vehicle.

NYPD Responds To 77 Reports Of Suspicious Packages In 24-Hour Period

There is once again a high terror alert in New York City. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Tuesday they are taking no chances that an attack similar to the Boston Marathon bombings could happen here.

The city’s anti-terrorism slogan has always been if you see something say something, and people have been responding in droves, keeping the NYPD busy with dozens and dozens of reports of suspicious packages, CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer reported.

“We asked the public to be vigilant, particularly as far as packages are concerned, and in doing that and after yesterday’s events we anticipated that it would be an increase in reports of suspicious packages and indeed there was,” Kelly said.

"Inspire" Magazine: New issue of magazine offers "jihadists terror tips", including using pressure cookers as bombs

The second edition of an online al Qaeda magazine has surfaced with frank essays, creatively designed imagery and ominous terror tips such as using a pickup truck as a weapon and shooting up a crowded restaurant in Washington.

The magazine is called "Inspire" and intelligence officials believe that an American citizen named Samir Khan, now living in Yemen, is the driving force behind the publication.

The latest edition was emerged on the 10th anniversary of the suicide attack on the guided missile destroyer USS Cole -- struck as it refueled in Aden, Yemen. The first edition came out in July.

Christopher Boucek, a Yemen expert with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said the timing is no coincidence.

"It also comes on the heels of a busy week for al Qaeda in Yemen. They released an hour long video last week. There was also an attack on a British Convoy in Sanaa [Yemen's capital] last week. And an audiotape was released two days ago. Al Qaeda in Yemen is good at amplifying its message and that shows the organization is still active, that they're still able to function," he said.

An article titled "The Ultimate Mowing Machine" calls for using a pickup truck as a "mowing machine, not to mow grass but mow down the enemies of Allah."

Matt's quest for the sake of posterity:

I know many would not  believe me when I say the following, and yet I must do so for posterity's sake, so here I go.

This is not an Islamic magazine.

While I have no proof, I'm sure this is a CIA created magazine to predictively program and perpetuate the myth that those who read the Quran are violent, hateful people, and to equate both pieces of literature by having the former sully the latter.

The former is the product of twisted minds.

The latter is a beautiful book everyone should read at least once in their lives from cover to cover with an open mind and heart.

I would never lie about something about this, nor could all the hateful magazines in the world, and the cowed minds they alter, ever change this fact.

I have read this magazine, "Inspire", and it does indeed contain the contents they claim it to.

It's also professionally put together, and has hotmail and gmail addresses readily available for others "desiring to contribute".

Would anyone in their right mind believe that there would be no pursuit after these email accounts, after the creators of the magazine to stop the dissemination of such information?

I posted this article because its subject touches upon the recent incident in Boston, and to hopefully demonstrate one of the many tactics used to vilify a group of people for gain.

I also post it to prove that I don't hide from those who lie out of fear that association with the Quran or those who read it will, in turn, vilify me.

I read the Quran, and have read it many times, and know it through and through.

The only struggle I will ever condone involves that which must be undertaken by free men to preserve their freedom, and the freedom of those beaten and arrested in the streets, hunted through mountains like animals, and who are relegated to serfs by people who "kill us softly" with their poisons, prisons and propaganda.

The moment we can break away from their trickery is the moment we, ourselves become free men and women.

Third person killed in Boston Marathon bombings was female Chinese citizen, Chinese consulate in New York confirms.

Boston Marathon aftermath: New pics from moments before, after blasts

Photos sent to 7News by a viewer show the scene just before and right after the bombs went off on Boylston Street.

7News has provided these pictures to the FBI as they continue their investigation. They are looking at the pictures to see if it's possible it could be the second bomb.

In the first picture you can see a bag next to a mailbox and up against a barricade along the marathon route. In the second, which we have blurred because it is very graphic, there is no sign of the bag. The viewer who took the pictures says there may be an hour or more between when the first and second pictures were taken.

Matt's recommendation:
Take a moment to read the comments left on the article website.
A lot of people are engaging in thoughtful analysis of the photos, and many are unconvinced by what is being shown.

No more Boston Marathon suspects: Saudi national no longer ‘person of interest’ in Boston bombings, trail gone cold

The Saudi national injured during the bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon Monday has been cleared and is no longer even a person of interest, intelligence officials told lawmakers Tuesday.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper briefed members of the Senate Intelligence Committee behind closed doors in a pre-scheduled hearing that was supposed to focus on the budget, but Clapper began with an update of the bombings. Ranking Republican Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) emerged from the briefing and said he was told the 22-year old Saudi student who was injured during the bombings and remains in the care of a local hospital was no longer a focus of investigators.

"He was never categorized as a suspect; he was a person of interest. My understanding is that he totally cooperated and that he is no longer a person of interest," Chambliss said.

Asked if there were any other persons of interest at this time, Chambliss said, "Not that I know of."

Details about the bombings are still scarce and the investigation hasn't yielded any firm conclusions about the perpetrator or the origin of the explosive devices yet, according to Chambliss.

Matt's thoughts:
Sadly, the damage has already been done. Even accusing muslims of the crime is all that it takes to convince a mostly uneducated population, whether or not that's actually true.

Envelope tainted with deadly poison ricin intercepted at Capitol's off-site mail facility in Washington, purportedly addressed to Senator Roger Wicker

An envelope that tested positive for the deadly poison ricin was intercepted Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. Capitol's off-site mail facility in Washington, congressional and law enforcement sources tell CNN.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was told the letter was addressed to the office of Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Mississippi. After the envelope tested positive in a first routine test, it was retested two more times, each time coming up positive, the law enforcement source said. The package was then sent to a Maryland lab for further testing.

Senators were briefed on the matter Tuesday evening and told the congressional post offices would be temporarily shut down.

"It was caught in the screening facility. That's why we have an off-site screening facility for mail," said Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri.

Boston Marathon Bombing 2013 (Rare amateur footage)

Items to note and questions to ask:

-- Why is this the only amateur footage available?
-- Why is there next to no professional footage, and what there is, is looped?
-- There were hundreds of people there, how did they vanish instantly?
-- Why do we only get a glimpse of what is behind the fencing?
-- Why does it look like no one is actually there behind the fencing they so desperately seek to pull away?
-- Why the suddenly absence of people, yet sudden presence of huge splashes of blood?
-- If there are people there, wouldn't they be very few in number, unlike the "30 amputations" and "200 casualties" being reported?
-- Why isn't there a single scream to be heard amongst the wounded?

"We need more cameras": Boston Marathon conspiracy brings about 1984 scenarios

ANDREA MITCHELL, MSNBC: Congressman briefly, do you think that this will lead to more cameras? I know it's controversial, there are privacy issues. Boston does have a lot of cameras. European cities, led by London, have the most. Are Americans going to have to get used to more surveillance on a daily basis?

REP. PETER KING (R-NY): I think we do because I think privacy involves being in a private location. Being out in the street is not an expectation of privacy. Anyone can look at you, can see you, can watch what you're doing. A camera just makes it more sophisticated, but it's no different from your neighbor looking out the window at you or a police officer looking at you walking down the street.

So I do think we need more cameras. We have to stay ahead of the terrorists and I do know in New York, the Lower Manhattan Security Initiative, which is based on cameras, the outstanding work that results from that. So yes, I do favor more cameras. They're a great law enforcement method and device. And again, it keeps us ahead of the terrorists, who are constantly trying to kill us.

North Korea vows blitz attack on South warning 'retaliation will start without notice'

"The supreme command of the Korean People's Army Tuesday issued an ultimatum to the South Korean puppet group," Pyongyang's official news agency, KCNA, said.

Threatening that it would not give any advance notice before attacking South Korea, the North warned: "Our retaliatory action will start without any notice from now."

North Korea said it was responding to insults from the "puppet authorities" in the South, who yesterday held a rally against the North in Seoul.

Anti-North Korea protesters burnt effigies of past and present leaders of the secretive state while the North celebrated the 101st anniversary of its founder's birth.

Muslim Brotherhood leader points to conspiracy behind Boston bombing (Take a number, fellas)

A common criticism of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood has always been that it delivers one message in English to an international audience, and another message entirely in Arabic to its domestic audience. If anyone is ever looking for an example of this, they need to look no further than the Islamist organization's reaction to the bombing of the Boston Marathon.

In English, the Brotherhood's political party released a statement "categorically reject[ing] as intolerable the bombings committed in the U.S. city of Boston," and "offer[ing] heartfelt sympathies and solemn condolences to the American people and the families of the victims."

In Arabic, senior Brotherhood leader and the vice chairman of the group's political party Essam el-Erian took a different tack. In a post on his Facebook page, he condemned the Boston attack -- but also linked it to the French war in Mali, the destruction in Syria and Iraq, and faltering rapprochement between the Turkish government and Kurdish rebels.

Matt's favourite paragraph in the article:
El-Erian is making the case that all of these setbacks -- from Boston to Baghdad -- are somehow connected. "Who disturbed democratic transformations, despite the difficult transition from despotism, corruption, poverty, hatred, and intolerance to freedom, justice tolerance, development, human dignity, and social justice?" he asked. "Who planted Islamophobia through research, the press, and the media? Who funded the violence?"

William Colton Millay gets 16 years for selling secrets to Russian spy who was undercover FBI agent

An Alaska-based military policeman will serve 16 years in prison for selling secrets to an FBI undercover agent who he believed was a Russian spy.

Spec. William Colton Millay, of Owensboro, Ky., pleaded guilty last month to attempted espionage and other counts.
He was sentenced Monday and will now be dishonorably discharged.

Military prosecutors painted him as a white supremacist who was fed up with the Army and the United States, and was willing to sell secrets to an enemy agent, even if that would cost fellow soldiers their lives.

Defense attorneys said Millay was emotionally stunted, was only seeking attention and was a candidate for rehabilitation.

Is the NSA building a $1.2billion data center to spy on Americans? Utah desert facility code-named Bumblehive 'will monitor emails of U.S. citizens'

The U.S. National Security Agency has been accused of building a $1.2billion data centre in the Utah desert to illegally monitor the emails of American citizens.

The secretive agency, which serves the U.S. military and intelligence communities, insisted the state-of-the-art facility, code-named Bumblehive, would be used to support U.S. cybersecurity in accordance with U.S. laws that limit spying on Americans.

But campaigners have warned that a new law currently going through Congress will greatly expand these powers, and the Bumblehive site could be used for unprecedented mass surveillance.

China accuses U.S. of destabilising Asia-Pacific region by bolstering military presence in the area

China placed itself on a collision course with the U.S. today after accusing Washington of destabilising the Asia-Pacific region with its growing military presence in the area.

Beijing said America's strategy of bolstering its alliances by sending more ships, planes and troops to the region 'frequently makes the situation tenser'.

The policy, known as the 'pivot' to Asia, will see 60 per cent of the navy's fleet deployed to the Pacific by 2020.

'He's a witness not a suspect': Burned Saudi student who had apartment raided is ruled out by police

The Saudi student who was detained for 'acting suspiciously' at the marathon finish line has been ruled out as a suspect by federal officials and is said to be a witness helping police with their inquiries.

Detectives and bomb disposal officers raided Abdulrahman Ali Alharbi's apartment last night in the Revere area of Boston and could be seen removing several bags of evidence, though he was not charged with anything.

The 22-year-old, who is studying English, is still in hospital after suffering from serious burns and is said to be cooperating fully with authorities. He was tackled to the ground by a civilian who believed he was acting suspiciously.

Saudi official's at the country’s embassy in Washington also said that the man was being questioned as a witness only.

H7N9 Bird Flu Virus Is Spreading Across China

About two weeks ago, the news that a novel strain of bird flu had made two victims in China made headlines. Recent information on this topic says that the H7N9 avian flu virus is now spreading across the country.

More precisely, it appears that the virus is moving from China's eastern regions towards the country's central and northern ones.

These claims that the virus is no longer confined to the eastern parts of China are based on the fact that several new human cases have thus far been pinned down in other parts of the country.

Two of these new human cases have been reported in Beijing, whereas other two others have been reported in China's Henan province.

All these four new reports concerning human victims of the H7N9 avian flu virus were issued over the course of this past weekend.

Nature reports us that, since March 31, when the first case of H7N9 caught the attention of both local media and health officials, until this past Monday, a total of 63 infections and 14 deaths linked to this avian flu virus were reported in China.

The government continues to claim there is nothing to worry about, 14 deaths reported in the past 2 weeks may not seem that alarming, considering the common flu could do worse, however...

We are looking at a new strain, source is not determined and it is spreading and mutating fast.

Lets look at the the H5N1 virus just for a moment, this strain has killed 371 people globally since first discovered in humans in 2003, with a mortality rate from 50% - 90% of those who have become infected.

China alone has seen 45 infected which resulted in the deaths of 30 of the 45 people in the past TEN YEARS!!!

H7N9 is now at 71 Infected, 14 Deaths reported in the PAST TWO WEEKS, do the maths....

Just one final fact, report several days ago informed us that a 4 year old was the first person to recover from H79N, so the remaining are still fighting for their lives, Brain damage and organ failure are being reported in the remaining infected patients.

Michael M.C. Lai, a distinguished research fellow at Academia Sinica specializing in corona-virus molecular biology, was reported as saying Monday that the H7N9 virus is evolving and would mutate into a form allowing human-to-human transmission sooner or later.

Lai clarified Tuesday, however, that he did not say the H7N9 virus will definitely become transmissible among humans, but that it has a mutated gene and may be more likely to cause a human pandemic in a short time if it infects more people.

Beijing fears over 4-year-old bird flu 'carrier', who showed no symptoms

Doctors say the discovery of a 4-year-old carrier of the H7N9 bird flu virus who shows no symptoms of the potentially lethal virus is a worrying development that could make the spread of the infection more difficult to monitor.

The Beijing Municipal Health Bureau said the boy was detected from a group of close contacts of the first infection in Beijing and the laboratory results showed the boy was an asymptomatic carrier of the disease.

The boy emerged after authorities screened 24 poultry owners in Naidong Village, Cuigezhuang County in Chaoyang District taking throat swabs of those in contact with the group.

The report said the boy's parents were engaged in poultry and fish trading.

China reports 71 H7N9 infections

NANJING/HANGZHOU, April 16 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces reported eight new H7N9 infection cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of H7N9 cases across the country to 71.

According to the health department of Jiangsu Province, H7N9 infections were confirmed in a 56-year-old man surnamed Fu, a 21-year-old woman surnamed Hu and a 72-year-old man surnamed Zhu on Tuesday.

All three patients are in critical condition.

None of the 25 people who have had close contact with them have shown any abnormal symptoms.

Boston Marathon Bombing: Pressure Cooker Bombs Hidden In Bags

The FBI has said it will go to the "ends of the Earth" to find those who used pressure cooker bombs to kill three and injure more than 170 people at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The pressure cooker bombs were hidden in duffel bags packed with nails, shards of metal and ball bearings and placed on the ground, around 100m apart along the finishing stretch of the Boston Marathon route, a source close to the investigation has disclosed.

They said that law enforcement officials had some of the bomb components but did not yet know what had been used to set off the explosives.

Important information:
-- This episode, "Turban Cowboy", was aired on March 17th
-- However, it was the fifteenth episode and the bombings took place on April 15th, 2013
-- Note the timing of the two explosions in the clip, nearly identical to the timings of the actual bombings, several seconds
-- I recommend watching the entire episode, and one will see the very dark tone it takes, almost uncharacteristically political and harsh for a Family Guy episode
-- Note the scene behind Peter and his car, with the limbs, blood and broken bodies

Matt wonders:
Is it fanciful thinking to wonder if this is predictive programming?
Was the bombing "revenge" of some sort for this "cultural shot"?
Even if it isn't, will it be labelled as such to complete the false flag narrative, if one exists?

North Korea issues new threats over protests in South

North Korea issued new threats against South Korea on Tuesday, vowing "sledge-hammer blows" of retaliation if South Korea did not apologies for anti-North Korean protests the previous day when the North was celebrating the birth of its founding leader.

The North also rejected what it called "cunning" U.S. overtures for talks, saying it will not be humiliated into being dragged to sit at the negotiating table by Washington.

But a senior U.S. military official in South Korea said the North Korean leadership was looking for a way to cool down its rhetoric after weeks of warnings of war.

Rebels push Assad's army away from vital north Syria highway

Syrian rebels repelled an advance by government forces near a strategic highway in northern Syria on Tuesday, in fierce battles expected to inflict heavy casualties on both sides, opposition activists said.

The two sides are struggling for control of a highway that serves as the main route into Aleppo, Syria's largest city, after President Bashar al-Assad's forces broke through a six-month rebel blockade of two bases near the road.

EU makes last-ditch bid for Serbia-Kosovo deal

The European Union gave Serbia a last chance to clinch membership talks with the bloc on Tuesday, summoning the Balkan country to new negotiations on ending the ethnic partition of its former Kosovo province.

With speculation rising that a deal might be near, diplomats said the European Commission, the EU's executive arm, would delay a report on Serbia's readiness to start accession talks.

The report had been due on Tuesday, before the European Council considers its findings on April 22.

Mass Casualty Mobile Tablet Deployed For Use In Boston Marathon 3 days In Advance

Why was mass casualty technology deployed 3 days before the Boston Marathon for the first time, preceding an actual bombing attack rare to American history?

In what can only be described as either a strange coincidence or a pre-planned measure, mass casualty equipment was deployed to the Boston Marathon ahead of the bombings that took place Monday at the Patriot’s Day event.

A press release dated April 14, 2013 reads;

From: OPEN Incorporated- SafetyPAD

Boston EMS is deploying a new, off-the-shelf, lightweight mobile device for the first time at the Boston Marathon on April 15.

The platform, from SafetyPAD, is intended for use in mass-casualty situations gives EMS personnel the ability to carry into crowds and assess a patient upon arrival, document in realtime, transmit data to transport units before they arrive, and other features.

Boston EMS will utilize the new Android-based program for bike and gator teams along race route.

Martin Richard, 8, is reported to be among those killed in the twin-bombing, as the FBI launches a major terror investigation.

An eight-year-old boy has been named by US media as one of three people killed when two bombs ripped through crowds during the Boston Marathon.

The Boston Globe newspaper identified the youngster as Martin Richard, who lives in the city.

He was reportedly waiting to give his father, who was running in the race, a hug at the finish line when the blasts happened.

7.8 magnitude quake Iran-Pakistan: Hundreds feared dead

A major earthquake struck Iran near the border with Pakistan on Tuesday and an Iranian official said hundreds of people were feared to have been killed.
Tremors from the 7.8 magnitude quake were also felt in India and Gulf states.

"It was the biggest earthquake in Iran in 40 years and we are expecting hundreds of dead," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake hit at 10:44 GMT (11.44 a.m. British time) at a depth of 15.2 km (9.4 miles).

People in the city of Zahedan poured into the streets when the earthquake struck, Iran's Fars news agency reported.

Iran-Pakistan Earthquake: Quake kills at least 40 in Iran

TEHRAN: Iranian state TV says at least 40 people have been killed by a major earthquake near the Iran-Pakistan border.

Press TV gave no further details on the extent of damage in the sparsely populated areas.

But the quake shook buildings as far away as New Delhi and Gulf cities of Dubai and Bahrain.

Iran's seismological center said the 7.5 magnitude earthquake was centered near Saravan, a sparsely populated area about 48 kilometers (26 miles) from the Pakistani border.
