Refugee poster boy unmasked as drugs gang boss behind plot to flood the country that gave him refuge with £1.2m of cocaine

Arben Dumani (pictured left) was 10 when media interviewed him about escaping Kosovo to Glasgow. But Dumani, now 23, and three members of his gang, Albert Memia (pictured top centre and bottom right snorting cocaine), Fabion Ponari and Gjeorgj Pjetri (pictured top right) were yesterday jailed for distributing cocaine (pictured left inset) at Glasgow's High Court.

Japan's "Long War" to shut down Fukushima

Just months after Quince was deployed to inspect Japan's tsunami-devastated Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, the $6 million robot got trapped in its dark and winding pathways.

Seventeen months later, the high-tech soldier is still missing in action - a symbol of a daunting decommissioning project that will take decades, require huge injections of human and financial capital and rely on yet-to-be developed technologies.

"It's like going to war with bamboo sticks," said Takuya Hattori, president of the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum and a 36-year veteran of Fukushima plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co, known as Tepco.

Osborne rebuffed by rest of EU on bank bonuses..... And to think our Government Believes they stand a chance of Clawing Powers back from Brussels.

George Osborne suffered a bruising defeat in Europe on Tuesday as the 26 other EU finance ministers imposed curbs on bankers' bonuses in an unprecedented move targeted at the UK financial services sector.

Osborne had travelled to Brussels in a vain attempt to defeat proposals outlined last week to set a limit of a year's salary on bankers' bonuses, protecting the status of the City and Britain's biggest industry – financial services. "I cannot support the proposal on the table," he told the session.

But his pleawas ignored and Britain was left isolated, with no other government opposing the move - which was also supported by the European Central Bank and the European Commission.

The architects of our economic demise

"Today, we are witnessing the final stages of the greatest financial fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. Behind the massive debt, threat of “sequestration,” and the threat of massive pending layoffs exists a story that must be told and understood by every American. It is a truth that too few understand and even fewer will talk about.

The system has been rigged. However, understanding exactly what is being done to us, our country, and our economy has been deliberately made difficult for a person of average or even above-average intelligence by the architects of our demise. This process continues today, and much of it is done in secret or behind closed doors.

Every person on the planet is being robbed of their wealth by a select group of people. Worse, they are robbing your children, grandchildren, and further generations of their wealth not yet earned and (by extension) their time not yet invested, while making you believe that their enrichment is your moral obligation. It’s mental conditioning on a grand scale.

Soviet Propaganda Machine (Sound familiar?)

Hugo Chavez, leader of Venezuela, has died

President Hugo Chavez was a fighter. The former paratroop commander and fiery populist waged continual battle for his socialist ideals and outsmarted his rivals time and again, defeating a coup attempt, winning re-election three times and using his country's vast oil wealth to his political advantage.

A self-described "subversive," Chavez fashioned himself after the 19th Century independence leader Simon Bolivar and renamed his country the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

He called himself a "humble soldier" in a battle for socialism and against U.S. hegemony. He thrived on confrontation with Washington and his political opponents at home, and used those conflicts to rally his followers.

Saving the BIGGEST for last: Winter's 'largest widespread storm' looms over Midwest and is set to bury Chicago and could sweep through NYC

Mother Nature is apparently saving the best, or at least the biggest, for last.

Chicago residents expected to find themselves in the midst of a storm that could wind up dumping as much as 10 inches of snow in the area before the end of Tuesday - the most since the 2011 blizzard and its more than 20 inches of snow.

More than 1,200 flights on Tuesday were canceled by late morning, almost all of them at Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports.

Airlines are looking one day ahead. They've already canceled about 450 flights on Wednesday, mostly at Dulles and Reagan National airports in the Washington area, according to tracking service FlightAware.com.

Extraordinary new pictures reveal Florida sinkhole that swallowed a man as he slept - as ANOTHER one opens up two miles away

A sinkhole (left) has opened up in Seffner, Florida just streets away from another hole which swallowed Jeff Bush, 37, (pictured) on Thursday night. The newest sinkhole is 12-feet round, three-feet deep around the edge and five-feet deep in the center and straddles two properties. It appeared as Bush's home was demolished on Monday, revealing the sinkhole for the first time (right).

Mysterious Drone sighting near JFK Airport sparks FAA investigation

A bizarre sighting near JFK Airport has led to a federal investigation after a pilot spotted the unknown flying object as he landed a commercial jet yesterday.

The Alitalia pilot was in his final approach into JFK over Brooklyn, New York, just after 1pm when he saw something hovering about 200 feet away.

Despite the aircraft's sudden appearance in the sky, it was not in the pilot's way, and he was able to land the commercial jet safely.

Sources told the New York Post that the 'drone' was black in color, and had helicopter rotors on its corners.
In an audio recording released last night, the pilot can be heard saying: 'We saw a drone, a drone aircraft.'

China's cancer village: Disease rates soar in remote hamlet where the water is turned into GREEN SLUDGE by pollution

The Chinese government has promised to tackle 'cancer villages' - areas where pollution is so bad it has lead to a huge rise in diseases like stomach cancer - after a huge social media backlash from both ordinary Chinese people and global campaigners.

There has been an explosion of outrage about cancer villages on China's social media sites and blogs, which are used by increasingly powerful activists to raise awareness.

Huangjiawa, a village in Shandong province, became a symbol of the growing environmental movement after it emerged that the area has one of the highest rates of stomach cancer in the world, news of which spread rapidly across Weibo, a Chinese social media site similar to Twitter.

Russia carries out its 'biggest nuclear army drill in two decades' as Pentagon plays down its concerns

Russia has conducted an exercise designed to test the transport of nuclear weapons near Europe, according to US officials.

The drill was the largest of its kind in two decades and was carried out as part of larger military drills last month.

It is said to have sparked concern inside the Pentagon and US European Command but a Defence spokesman played the incident down.

Obama not bluffing over Iran military threat, Biden tells Aipac

Barack Obama's threats to use military force to prevent Iran securing a nuclear weapon are more than idle bluffs, vice-president Joe Biden told the biggest pro-Israeli lobbying group Aipac on Monday.

Biden said that while the US preferred a diplomatic solution to the standoff with Iran, a military option remained on the table.

"The president of the United States cannot, and does not, bluff. President Barack Obama is not bluffing," Biden told the audience in Washington.

Israel is seeking assurances of support from the US, should it decide to launch air strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities.

George Osborne fails to block bankers' bonus caps.....No Surprise really, He has Failed at everything else

European governments decided on Tuesday to impose curbs on bankers’ bonuses in the City in a major blow to the chancellor, George Osborne, acting on the UK financial services sector for the first time against British wishes.

Osborne went to Brussels to a meeting of 27 EU finance ministers in a vain attempt to defeat proposals agreed last week generally setting a limit of a year’s salary on bankers’ bonuses.

“I cannot support the proposal on the table,” he told the session on Tuesday. He was ignored.

US proposes 'toughest sanctions yet' against North Korea

The UN security council is considering imposing some of the toughest sanctions yet conceived against North Korea as senior diplomats from the 15 council member nations began discussions on a draft resolution framed by the US and China that would seek to deflect Pyongyang from its belligerent nuclear path.

Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the UN, said the draft sanctions resolution that she circulated to the security council was exceptional in its "breadth and scope". It would hit senior figures within the North Korean regime where it hurts them most – their pockets – by targeting for the first time illicit banking activities and movements of capital, she said.

Analysis: Egypt is in for trouble with or without the IMF handout

Egypt is at risk of a "revolution of the hungry" two years after Hosni Mubarak was ousted in a popular uprising, as food and energy prices will soar with or without an IMF deal.

Failure to get the $4.8 billion loan or some other funding would have dire consequences: if Egypt keeps burning foreign currency at the rate it has done since the 2011 uprising, it will have none left in little more than a year.

But success would also stir Egypt's boiling social and political cauldron. In return for a lifeline, the International Monetary Fund will demand reform of a subsidy system that long ago became unaffordable.

Italian president may appoint technocrats.....Why bother having elections at all?

President Giorgio Napolitano is considering appointing a new technocrat government led by a non-politician as one way out of Italy's political stalemate, Italian officials said on Tuesday.

Such a solution would come into play if center-left leader Pier Luigi Bersani failed to form a government after receiving an initial mandate from Napolitano, as is expected, they said.

"Napolitano wants a government with the broadest possible support that will last as long as possible," one of the officials told Reuters.

North Korea threatens to scrap armistice ending war

North Korea threatened on Tuesday to scrap an armistice that ended the 1950-53 civil war and sever a military "hotline" with the United States if South Korea and Washington pressed on with two-month-long war games.

It was a notable sharpening in the North's often bellicose rhetoric and followed word from U.N. diplomats that the United States and China had struck a tentative deal on a draft U.N. Security Council sanctions resolution that would punish North Korea for its third nuclear test, which it conducted last month.

"We will completely nullify the Korean armistice," the North's KCNA news agency said, quoting the Korean People's Army (KPA) Supreme Command spokesman.

IDS Admits Benefits For Migrants 'Crisis'

The Government is facing crisis as it tries to stop EU migrants coming to the UK to claim benefits, Iain Duncan Smith has warned.

The Work and Pensions Secretary said it was too easy for migrants to pass the current residency test, which then entitled them to claim benefits.

He told MPs he was trying to tighten up the system "dramatically" but was being thwarted by the European Union.

Why is this such a problem for the UK to put a stop to? Do you honestly believe that a foreigner can arrive in France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands etc.. and start claiming benefits?

NO THEY CAN'T., because these above mentioned countries among others won't allow it. Why else do you think they are all dying to land in the UK, it is the ONLY country which pays out.

Ikea has removed a batch of almond cakes from its restaurants in 23 countries after bacteria normally found in faecal matter was discovered.

Pirate Bay's 'move' to North Korea a hoax

Were the news true, The Pirate Bay would have been virtually untouchable, and it would have come at the perfect time. The torrenting site recently attempted to set up nodes in Norway and Catalunya, but after threats these efforts were shut down.

A programmer found that the North Korea report was a fraud, however. He backward engineered the signal and traced the actual hosting to somewhere in Asia, probably in Phenom Penh, Cambodia but not North Korea. You can check out the steps he took to unmask the hoax here.

But hoax or not, North Korea and its stance on outside influencers have been changing. The topic of technology in particular has been a tricky subject matter for obvious reasons considering the nature of the closed-off country. However according to our own source, who deals with training North Korean entrepreneurs, we can corroborate the country is slowly but surely evolving and in some ways opening its doors meticulously to new ventures and even technology.

Foul-smelling odor engulfs California beaches as pungent gases waft in from ocean

A foul sulfurous odor wafted over Southern California on Sunday and caused scores of concerned people to report the reek to authorities.

Over 100 emergency calls flooded in from Santa Monica and West LA as concerned residents believed the pungent smell was due to a gas leak.

Fortunately, the odor, though unpleasant, was just an ocean-based natural occurrence that was floating in from Santa Monica bay.

Dennis Rodman cancels ALL television appearances after saying he and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un are 'friends for life'

Perhaps it was due to a belated case of food poisoning from the ‘epic’ ten course feast that Dennis Rodman and several Vice Media correspondents shared with North Korea’s totalitarian dictator Kim Jung-un last week.

Rodman is now cancelling his whirlwind tour of post-North Korea television appearances, causing curiosity and relief among political commentators and media observers.

The cancellations follow his bizarre and inflammatory interview with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday, in which the retired NBA player called Kim Jung-un a ‘friend for life’ and assured his host that the dictator just wants Obama to call him.

The banker who shaped the modern financial world after WWII was a Soviet spy who REALLY wanted America to become communist

The brilliant architect of the post-war financial system that created the World Bank and International Monetary Fund was in fact a Soviet spy and sympathizer.

Documents at Princeton University have been unearthed that shed new light on Harry Dexter White, the Treasury Department’s key representative at the Bretton Woods conference which took place in July 1944, as the Second World War raged.

And despite the conference ensuring a postwar global financial climate dominated by the American dollar, White was feeding information to Moscow for years and dreamed one day of the Soviet model supplanting the free-market capitalism of the United States.

Two Frances on one street in "lazy" town

The U.S. tire executive who infuriated the French by calling workers at a doomed Goodyear factory "not worth saving" might have formed a different impression of France had he visited the Dunlop factory across the street.

The Dunlop plant near Amiens in northern France was the mirror image of the plant that Titan International (TWI.N) CEO Maurice Taylor, nicknamed The Grizz for his gruff demeanor, had considered buying before dropping the idea and complaining the workforce spent as much time talking as working.

But the two plants, whose shared parent is Goodyear Dunlop, chose different destinies four years ago when Dunlop's unions accepted tougher labor conditions and Goodyear's rejected them.

Now Goodyear faces closure, while Dunlop has received more than 50 million euros ($65 million) in investment.

Google Ivory Adverts 'Against Own Policies'....Policies? these are designed for other people, Not Google, they can do what they Want, when they Want.

Google has been accused of helping to increase the demand for ivory by running adverts promoting the sale of the product.

The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) said illicit ivory traders in China and Thailand were benefiting from the killing of African elephants at record levels.

Google was a party to the trade because there were around 10,000 ads on Google Japan's shopping site that promote the sale of ivory, the conservation group said.

It said it had written a letter in February to Google CEO Larry Page urging the company to remove the ads because they violate Google's own policies but Google had neither answered nor taken down the adverts.

Fraud in the UK has risen by 5%, with more crimes recorded in 2012 than in any previous year, according to the UK's Fraud Prevention Service.

CIFAS recorded 248,325 frauds last year, with identity crime - when people misuse the personal data of victims - accounting for almost two-thirds of this total.

Unrest in Egyptian city draws in the military and raises warning of breakdown of order

Clashes between protesters and the police in the restive Egyptian city of Port Said that entered their second day Monday have dragged in the military to a dramatic extent into the nation’s turmoil.

At times in the violence, frictions have arisen between the police that were battling protesters and army forces that tried to break up the fighting. Troops in between the two sides were overwhelmed by police tear gas, one army colonel was wounded by live fire, and troops even opened fire over the heads of police, bringing cheers from protesters.

Euro zone to bail out Cyprus - no details on how

Euro zone finance ministers pledged on Monday to agree a bailout for Cyprus by the end of March, but details of how the rescue will be financed are yet to be sorted out.

Cyprus requested a bailout in June last year but it was not possible to reach an agreement with the last, communist-led government. A new, conservative government took office last month and negotiations have intensified.

ILLEGALS BRINGING DRUG-RESISTANT TB TO U.S.

A member of Congress who for more than 30 years worked as a doctor says the baggage that illegal aliens are bringing into the United States now is killing people.

Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, told WND that it’s not suitcases, clothes or the like – it’s the highly infectious cases of drug-resistant and lethal tuberculosis that are walking across the Mexican border.

“It is something I am aware of and it is definitely a factor to consider in the immigration debate,” Burgess said.

'House of horrors' abortion doctor on trial

A US doctor accused of running a "house of horrors" abortion clinic will go on trial this week over the deaths of one woman and seven babies who prosecutors say were killed with scissors.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell worked from the West Philadelphia Women's Medical Society but officials have described his squalid clinic as like something out of a horror movie

"There were bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses were scattered throughout the building," Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams told the New York Daily News at the time of the doctor's arrest.

"There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose."

Israel accused of racism after launching bus service for Palestinians only

Israel has been accused of promoting racial segregation by introducing 'Palestinian-only buses' from today after complaints were apparently made by settlers that mixed buses are a security risk.

The Transport Ministry said the two new bus lines, which will run between the occupied West Bank and Israel, is an improvement in the service but rights groups described the move as racist.

The left-wing Haaretz daily newspaper reported the ministry opened the lines after Jewish settlers complained of the dangers of having Palestinians on regular buses.

Michelle Obama says children living in dangerous neighborhoods should exercise INDOORS (but not everyone's got a private gym)

First lady Michelle Obama said Monday that kids living in unsafe neighborhoods should find creative ways to exercise indoors.

'We as the community, the adults surrounding these kids, we’ve got to get creative,' Obama said during a Google Hangout Monday. 'I would encourage parents that if they also find themselves in a situation where they can’t get outside, then let’s figure out what we can do indoors because it doesn’t take the great outdoors to be moving every day.'

Obama made the remarks in response to a parent who voiced concerns over the recent shooting death of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago girl who was killed at a park near her school.

Locust alert in Middle East as plague descends on Egypt and creates panic in Israel

As swarms of locust devour Egyptian crops, the Middle East is bracing for the destructive bugs to migrate their way ahead of the Passover holiday.

A swarm of an estimated 30million insects has been devastating crops in Egypt, fuelling apocalyptic fears because of the infestation’s proximity to the Bible story of Passover in which a swarm of locusts, the eighth of ten plagues, is imposed on Egyptians by God for enslaving and abusing ancient Hebrews.

Israel’s Agriculture Ministry set up an emergency hotline today and urged residents to be vigilant in reporting sightings of the insects to prevent an outbreak.

Syrian rebels report capture of provincial capital

Syrian opposition fighters captured the northeastern city of Raqqa on Monday and crowds toppled a statue of President Bashar al-Assad's father, opposition sources and residents said.

The fall of Raqqa on the Euphrates River would be a significant development in the two-year-old revolt against Assad. The rebels do not claim to hold any other provincial capitals.

Rebel fighters said loyalist forces were still dug in at the provincial airport 60 km (40 miles) from Raqqa and they remained a threat. A resident said that a Syrian military intelligence compound in the town was not in rebel hands but was surrounded by anti-Assad fighters.

Massacre of Syrian Soldiers in Iraq Raises Risk of Widening Conflict

More than 40 Syrian soldiers who had sought temporary safety in Iraq from rebel fighters along the border were killed on Monday in an attack by unidentified gunmen as the Iraqi military was transporting the soldiers back to Syria in a bus convoy, the Iraqi government said.

At least seven Iraqis were also reported killed in the attack, which appeared to be the most serious spillover of violence into Iraq since the Syrian conflict began two years ago.

Ali al-Musawi, a spokesman for Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, accused “armed groups from the Iraqi and Syrian side” of coordinating the attack, which he described as an ambush. He said Iraq would deploy more security forces on the border. Middle East experts said such a move raised the risk that the Iraqis could become more directly enmeshed in the Syrian conflict, underscoring how it threatens to destabilize a wider swath of the region.

UN nuclear chief demands access to Iran military site for inspectors

THE United Nations nuclear watchdog chief is increasing the pressure on Iran over suspicions it has researched how to build an atomic bomb – calling for immediate access to a key military site.

Signalling frustration at the lack of progress, Yukiya Amano told the 35-nation board negotiations with Iran must "proceed with a sense of urgency" and be focused on achieving concrete results soon.

Because Iran is not providing the necessary co-operation with inspectors, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) "cannot conclude all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities", said Mr Amano, the watchdog's director-general.
