A group of 160 citizens, many if not most of whom were armed, confronted government officials Tuesday who had attempted to have a wounded Army veteran kicked out of a meeting due to the fact that he carried a gun. The veteran has a state license for concealed carry, which means that he was carrying the gun to the meeting within the boundaries of the law.
The story of the incident, which occurred at a city council meeting in Oak Harbor, Wash., made national news three weeks ago.
But Tuesday evening the citizens of Oak Harbor, Wash. showed up to confront its city council and demand that the council rescind a local ordinance prohibiting guns from being carried on public property. The citizens also wished to show their support for Lucas Yonkman, the Army veteran who showed up at the previous meeting armed.

Lebanon claims Israel conducting more mock sorties
The report said Israeli fighter planes, accompanied by a reconnoissance drone, flew over Lebanese airspace for three hours and conducted mock sorties.

Gunmen kill nine in attacks on health workers in Nigeria
Gunmen shot dead nine health workers who were administering polio vaccinations in two separate attacks in Nigeria's main northern city of Kano on Friday, police said.
Islamist militant group Boko Haram - a sect which has condemned the use of Western medicine - has been blamed for carrying out a spate of assaults on security forces in the city in recent weeks.

Paratroopers mutiny in Mali capital Bamako, gunfire heard
Heavy gunfire erupted in the west of Mali's capital Bamako on Friday, as government forces exchanged fire with mutinous paratroopers, military sources and witnesses said.
Government forces sealed off the area around the paratroopers' base, as reinforcements arrived to quell the mutiny which was protesting disciplinary measures against some of the unit's members. Smoke was seen rising from the camp.

Magnitude 7.1 quake off Solomons, no reports of damage
An earthquake with a preliminary 7.1 magnitude struck 270 miles east of Kira Kira on the Solomon Islands on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.There were no immediate tsunami warnings or reports of damage.

Christopher Dorner Names Targets In 'Killing Manifesto'
Christopher Dorner vowed "warfare" on anyone working for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), promising an element of surprise by attacking where they work, sleep or eat.
In a long diatribe posted on his Facebook page, Dorner lists a number of "high value targets" and says he will use his military training against them.
Officers have been sent to protect more than 40 potential targets, including police officers and their families.
