Guns and Gandhi: How Twisted Myths About Arms Threaten to Seize Your Freedom -- Written by MrPops09, a Coming Crisis Supporter

I was reading an article in which the topic at hand was how the American government is going for not only handguns, but also a new nation wide "assault weapons" ban/restrictions. Now, that got me thinking. The Sandy Hook shooting, although tragic and evil at its finest, is not enough to make even the people on the fence give up their guns, much less anyone who gives a flying (expletive) about the constitution. Now, you combine the Trayvon shooting, the Aurora movie theater shooting, the Sikh temple shooting, and the Sandy Hook shooting, and I would still venture to say you don’t have enough support to pass gun restrictions for the sole reason that all the hype from the aforementioned shootings has gone away.

This leads me to a prediction, or rather realizing a trend. There will be another mass shooting right before they vote on the new gun restrictions. There would have to be in order to put a nation wide restriction in effect. You think people in KY, OH, TX, TN, IN are just going to go along with it? The hell they will. Maybe some brainwashed people from Chicago will (Good 'ol OBAMA) but not in places like those. And thus, there will coincidentally be another mass shooting right before the vote on the issue. As a side note, did you know IL is the only state that you cannot conceal and carry? Not only that, but Chicago, despite their strict gun laws, has one of the highest homicide rates in the country. In fact, today (12/28/12), Chicago had its 500th homicide of 2012. They also had 500 back in 2008. Now, the great state of IL has finally woken up and realized that gun restrictions do not equal less crime, but rather encourage it. This is due to the unforeseen effect of the gun restrictions, which take the guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens and leave them in the hands of the criminals. Thus, the law-abiding citizens are left defenseless against an armed criminal populace. Thankfully, there is legislation going through that is declaring IL ban on conceal and carry unconstitutional.

Lenin once said, “One man with a gun can control 100 without one." Now, That being the case, it is clear to see why any dictator who is bent on tyrannical ruling confiscates guns. This has always been the first thing to happen. In the 1930’s Hitler passed a law saying Jewish people could not own guns or ammunition. That didn’t work out too well for them. There are countless cases of this happening with not only Hitler, but also: Stalin, Lenin, Castro, Kim Jong-Il, countless African dictators, and so on. Imagine this: a man walks into a bank with a gun and yells, “Everyone Down!” As Stalin so nicely illustrated, everyone will go down. Now, imagine that same scenario where people were encouraged to conceal and carry. When the criminal draws his weapon, he will have 50 or so other weapons pointed right at him with the response of, “No, sir, you get down.”

Now let me show you something... Did you know that an "Assault rifle", as the media so loves to call them, is the same thing as 99% of all semi-automatic hunting rifles? Let me show you.

Can you tell me the functional difference between this:

And this:

Aside from the optics and grips, The ONLY difference is that the first "hunting rifle" shoots a more powerful round, and thus, is more deadly. Functionally, THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME. They are both a lightweight, magazine fed, gas operated, shoulder-fired weapon. The only reason the Media calls an "Assault rifle" an assault rifle is because the AK-47/AR-15 looks scarier. When in fact, you can do more damage with the hunting rifle than you can with the AR-15.

If you are not a gun person let me ask you... is this a hunting rifle?

Well, that's a trick question...The answer is HELL YES IT IS. But, do you recognize that gun? It's an AK-47, a Russian made AK47 and the same one I personally own.

If you are still on the fence, here is a Ruger 10/22:

This is the MOST popular gun sold in America (just a really cool looking one). It is no different from any other "assault rifle", functionally. It is a .22 caliber, but an AR-15 is basically a .22 caliber with more gunpowder (it shoots a .223).

When people debate the topic of gun control and banning “assault rifles” I usually say something along the lines of, “The reason we have the right to bear arms is not to protect ourselves from each other, but from tyranny. The government has all the good weapons, and we NEED assault weapons to keep them in check and keep our constitution protected. The people should not fear the government, but rather, the government should fear the people.” Most respond with a smug laugh and say something ignorant like, "We live in America not some 3rd world country.” My response is: “Jew circa 1930's: We live in Germany, not some 3rd world country."

Politicians are fast to fear monger and say things like, “We need to get assault rifles off the streets.” However, what they fail to tell you is that 99% of the “assault rifles” are in the homes of regular, everyday, law-abiding people like you and me. Merry Christmas. Obama just happens to be the best guns sales man we have ever seen.

Let me close with a quote from Gandhi, “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.”

(Matt's thoughts: Agreed. I would add that while the 2nd amendment is geared towards militias and their responsibility to protect the nation from foreign and domestic threats, I would also add that the state of society today calls upon the individual to take their own personal safety just as seriously. Good people protecting good people. Who could argue against that? Thank you MrPops for honouring us with your words and enlightenment.)
