We had him transported to John Peter Smith Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

Rats scurrying to escape rising floodwaters in New York could spread diseases as they infest new areas, according to a nature expert.

A 13ft wall of water caused by the storm surge and high tides have caused severe flooding to subways and road tunnels in the city and torrents of water poured into city streets.

The rising water will force rats out of their underground lairs and into contact with humans, according to Rick Ostfeld of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Milbrook, New York, speaking to The Huffington Post.

Swiss police shock after FIFTEEN drivers own up to running over same pedestrian

Police who urged a motorist who ran over a pedestrian to turn himself in were shocked when 15 drivers owned up.

The victim was involved in a minor collision on Switzerland’s A13 motorway near St Gallen in the early hours, and was hit when he got out of his car.

Police thought that 56-year-old Bojan Solivic had been run over only once, but were amazed that he had been hit so many times without anybody stopping.
