Nest invaders: The new species of 'cuckoo bee' that infiltrates other insects nests to lay its eggs

Researchers have found a new species of bee that invades the nest of others to lay their eggs.

The behaviour is usually only seen in cuckoos, and the new species has been dubbed the 'cuckoo bee'.

Researchers found the bees range in size from large black and white species to tiny 3.2mm long bees.

The discoveries were made in the Republic of Cape Verde, which comprises 10 inhabited islands about 570 kilometers off the coast of West Africa. Read More
