Two women are electrocuted going to help after a car crashed into a fire hydrant and lamp-post in Los Angeles.

Two women have been electrocuted after trying to rescue a man injured in a car crash in Los Angeles.

The accident happened after the vehicle smashed into a fire hydrant in a residential area in the San Fernando Valley, sending water gushing two storeys into the air.

The vehicle also knocked down a lamp-post, exposing high-voltage power cables which electrified the water pooling around it.

A woman living nearby who heard the crash rushed out of her home and ran over to help.

She was unaware the water had been made 'live' by the power cable and was electrocuted when she stepped into it.

Moments later Irma Zamora and her husband were driving past and also stopped to help.

Ms Zamora ran towards the vehicle but was also instantly electrocuted.

Witness Christie Vegini told Fox LA of the moment Ms Zamora was killed: "I came running out and I saw the car and I saw the water and then all of the sudden I saw a lady come out of nowhere.

"She walked, stepped in the water, fell back on her back with her arms straight out, and then I ran back to the house to get my mom and came back. Read More
