Tramp killed by three thugs who doused him in petrol and set him alight as he slept in supermarket car park

The charred human remains found in a supermarket car park this morning may have belonged to a homeless person who was callously set alight late at night by three thugs as he slept.

In a shocking attack which is thought to have been caught on CCTV outside Sainsbury's in Chippenham, Wilts, sources have revealed that three men were said to have been seen pouring petrol into a jerrycan at a garage minutes before the car park blaze.

A police dog handler on a routine patrol spotted the blaze, in the car park of Sainsbury’s, in Chippenham at around 3am on Tuesday morning.

The charred remains of a person - whose age or gender have still not been officially identified - were found in the supermarket car park at 3am on Tuesday morning.

Police tonight refused to confirm or deny the circumstances surrounding the death of the adult although it was believed the victim might have been living at a hostel for homeless.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire - but police discovered the body lying in the ashes.
It is believed that the body was too badly burnt to determine a sex or age. Read More
