A man has been arrested for being armed with a machete while protesting near the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday.Authorities said at around 2:15pm, officers spotted 31-year-old Jason Wilson with a machete strapped to his leg.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said deputies ordered Wilson to stop, but he kept walking along East Washington Street.
When deputies caught up to him, police say he said told them he did not have to stop and that he was allowed to carry whatever he wanted.
However, weapons are prohibited in areas police have designated as ‘event zones.’
Police said Wilson, of Tallahassee, resisted arrest but was restrained and taken to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Read More
