Afghan Policeman Kills Two US Soldiers

Two American soldiers have been killed by an Afghan policeman in a new "green on blue" attack.

Nato spokesman Jamie Graybeal said the shooting happened in the far western province of Farah.

The attacker was a member of the Afghan Local Police, a village defence force that is being trained by international troops, including US special forces, Mr Graybeal said.

The American soldiers died before the Afghan attacker was shot and killed. Local police said he had been recruited just five days earlier.

Farah provincial police chief Agha Noor Kemtoz said the shooting happened at about 8am local time on Friday after the US forces arrived in the village of Kinisk to train local officers.

He said one Afghan National Police officer was seriously wounded in the shooting.

"Green on blue" shootings, in which Afghan police or soldiers turn their guns on their Western colleagues, have seriously eroded trust between the allies. Read More
