Yemen uncovers Iranian spy ring

Sanaa authorities say long-term espionage activity lead by ex-Revolutionary Guards officer discovered; warns Tehran against interfering in its affairs.

Yemeni authorities have uncovered an Iranian spy ring which has been operating in the country for over seven years, the Yemen Post reported, adding that all of its members have been arrested.

According to report, the cell was headed by a former top Iranian Revolutionary Guards officer and tasked with spy operations in Yemen and the Horn of Africa.

Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi confirmed that there are strong relations between the Houthi group and the Revolutionary Guards.

Al-Qirbi said that Tehran trains the Houthis and "provides them with weapons, equipments and funds.

"There are other issues that we do not want to currently speak about because we are engaged in internal dialogue and hope that these issue are resolved." he added. Read More
