Greek deputy labor minister replaced shortly after confidence vote

ATHENS, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras replaced on Monday a deputy labor minister in a set back for his coalition government within hours of a parliamentary vote of confidence.

Deputy Labor Minister Nikos Nikolopoulos resigned, citing his "disappointment" that the three-party coalition did not put emphasis on the renegotiation of labor issues with international creditors, according to a letter released to media by his office.

Shortly afterwards the premier's office announced that he will be replaced by member of parliament Nikos Panagiotopoulos.

Nikolopoulos' resignation came a few hours after the coalition government of conservatives, socialists and center-leftists formed after the June elections, won easily the assembly's confidence vote. Read More
