Clacton-on-Sea Shooting: Police Hunt Gunman After Two People Shot

Police urge people to stay indoors as they hunt a gunman who shot one man dead and injured another in Clacton-on-Sea.

Armed police are looking for a gunman who killed one man and injured another in a shooting in Clacton-on-Sea in Essex.

The incident happened in Fairlop Close, just after 3.30pm.

Officers were called and found one man dead and another with serious leg injuries. A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Residents are being urged to remain indoors while armed officers locate the gunman.

"Neighbourhood policing officers are maintaining a high-profile and visible presence in the community, supporting victims and witnesses.

"Members of the public are urged to contact police on 999 if they see the gunman who should not be approached."

A police helicopter is involved in the search for the gunman.

Police said that the two victims were found inside a house after the alarm was raised.

Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service, said: "Sadly on our arrival a man was pronounced dead at the scene and another person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries."
