Sgt Johnny Aparico savagely beaten and robbed by thugs on his way home

Police are on the hunt for a band of hooligans who mercilessly beat up a U.S. Army soldier before robbing him as he lay on the ground.

The incident reportedly began early on Sunday morning after the suspects approached Sgt Johnny Aparico, 24, in Tampa, Florida.

The sergeant, who is stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, had moved to the area less than a month ago, and was walking home at about 3:30am.

Three of the suspects can be seen walking down the street ahead of Sgt Aparico before turning the corner.
