Bungalow Tanker Smash 'Was Murder Attempt'

A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an oil tanker crashed into a bungalow and burst into flames.

The collision happened in Folly Lane in Wool, Dorset, at around 8.40am but the tanker driver fled the scene shortly after.

The bungalow sustained extensive damage but the woman who lives in the property was unhurt.

A man was detained in Wool and police said he is known to the occupant.

Around 30 firefighters tackled the blaze at the property which was brought under control in about an hour.

The tanker crashed into the front of the bungalow, smashing through the front wall and a set of windows.

The blaze ripped through the house and spread out towards the back garden.

Tyre tracks were left across the front garden after the large red Watson Fuels tanker left the road.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating a road traffic collision and property fire in Wool, with officers appealing for witnesses to come forward. Read More
