LA Police Hunt Hollywood Arsonist

LinkPolice are hunting an arsonist terrorising Hollywood after 19 fires were started in the wealthy neighbourhood in the early hours of the morning.

Among the properties damaged was the former home of the Doors legend Jim Morrison and police are warning the public to beware of further attacks.

In most of the fires, parked cars were set alight and the flames spread to nearby homes or apartment buildings.

Police were put on "tactical alert" to boost patrols as firefighters battled blazes across a district made famous as home to the city's movie and celebrity class.

Los Angeles Deputy Fire Chief Mario Rueda said: "This is an arsonist working.

"Some of these fires did communicate into structures. These are very dangerous fires. These can certainly lead to loss of life and injury so we are very concerned about it.

"We will be working with all of the LA agencies today to put together a plan for deployment to ensure the Hollywood community is safe." Read More
