Tory revolt as Cameron pledges to increase Britain's contribution to the IMF - 'We Want a Vote' - 4th Nov 2011

Conservative MPs were teetering on the edge of revolt today after David Cameron confirmed the UK was ready to increase its contribution to the International Monetary Fund.

The Prime Minister said the IMF boost would be within the 'extra head room' agreed by Parliament this year as he spoke at the conclusion of the G20 summit in France.

However, the announcement created uproar within the Tory party with some right-wingers calling for a full vote on the move in Parliament which could see the Prime Minister's majority significantly reduced. Read More
