Shelby Dasher booked on Suspicion of Murder of her Baby boy, Just hours after reporting her sons Kidnapping - 16th Nov 2011

The mother of the one-year-old boy whose body was found dumped in woods just hours after he was reported missing from her home has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Shelby Dasher, 20, was booked on a 24-hour hold at St Louis County jail at 8am today after the body of her son Tyler was discovered by dog walkers at 3.30pm yesterday.

He was found just one mile from his St Louis suburban home in Affton, Missouri, and 100ft from a busy main road.

It followed a frantic four-hour emergency services search for the child.

Dasher said she put her son to bed at 10.30pm on Monday night.

She told police she had then overslept, and when she awoke at 11am found he was missing.

No charges have been filed against Dasher and police have 24 hours to build a case or she will be released.

A police source told STLToday that authorities believe Dasher killed her son after she 'became very, very angry'. It was unclear what triggered her rage.

Detectives conducted interviews through the night as they investigated the little boy's death. Among those being interviewed, as well as the mother, were the boy's father and grandmother.

A witness reported seeing an adult in a dark sweatshirt walking down the street, carrying a child wrapped in a blanket in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Read More
