Argentina oil refinery blast 'kills one, injures five' - 10th Aug 2011

An explosion at an oil refinery in Argentina has killed one person and injured five others, local media say.

The blast happened shortly after midnight (04:00 GMT) at a plant near Bahia Blanca, some 450km (280 miles) south-west of Buenos Aires.

The cause is not yet known but local firefighters were quoted as saying operations had not been affected.

The refinery is run by the Argentine subsidiary of Brazil's state oil company Petrobras.

The blast happened in an operations room at the plant, which is located in Ingeniero White, 15km south of the port of Bahia Blanca.

The five injured people were taken to the local hospital in Bahia Blanca, according to media reports. Source
