TSA agent accused of stealing four watches worth up to $15,000 from passenger's bags - 25th July 2011

A TSA officer has been charged with stealing four watches and a pre-paid debit card from passenger's luggage at Los Angeles International Airport.

Paul Yahou, 38, was caught by police after he allegedly tried to sell one of the watches, worth $15,000, on eBay.

Prosecutors said that Yashou took the items from luggage going through security at LAX's Terminal 1.

According to court documents, one of the watches was valued at $15,000, another at $5,000 and two at $1,000. The pre-paid debit card had $1,000 on it.

Police arrested Yashou at his home last month after the owner of the $15,000 watch saw that it was listed on eBay.

Officers said that the watch had been sold to a jewellery store after he failed to sell it online.

Yashou faces two felony counts for the most expensive watches, which each carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison each.

The three misdemeanour counts carry a maximum sentence of one year each.

Yashou is scheduled to be arraigned on August 3.

The charges come after another agent was accused of stealing a $450 pen at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Toussain Puddie, 30, was charged on Wednesday after he allegedly took then pen, which was left behind during a checkpoint screening last month. Source
