James Lynn Jr has been charged with the killing of his wife Tonya Faye Lynn, after the dead body was found in a well next to their home - 31st July

The husband of a missing mother-of-four has been charged with murder after her body was found at the bottom of a well next to their home.

Police said they were led to the body of Tonya Faye Lynn, which was 20 feet under water in a densely wooded area in Auburn, Georgia, based on information from her estranged husband James Lynn Jr.

The couple had a history of domestic violence and Lynn was charged with battery in May shortly before Mrs Lynn filed for divorce in June.

Mrs Lynn, who worked at Athens Regional Medical Center, had reportedly since returned to the family home after reconciling with her husband.

The 38-year-old was reported missing at noon on Wednesday after her niece received a strange text message from her phone requesting that she take care of her children.

Christa Royster told police that she was unable to get in touch with her aunt and found her car parked at a library.

Officers said that Lynn, 42, was arrested and charged with obstruction on Friday after information he had initially given was shown to be false.

The mechanic was then charged with murder when the body in the well was identified as his wife. Read More
