Chicken pox prompts quarantine in part of jail, Colorado - 23rd June 2011

A ward at the El Paso County jail has been placed under a modified quarantine after an inmate tested positive for chicken pox.

Sheriff's officials say the inmate was diagnosed Wednesday. Colorado Springs' KRDO-TV reports that nearly 90 inmates are housed in the ward. Movement in and out of the area will be limited.

The quarantine will be in place until July 13. It won't affect inmates who might be eligible for release and won't affect visitation.

The sheriff's office says no other inmates or staffers show any symptoms of the chicken pox virus. Source
