Westlake Vinyls Co. plant Threat: Bomb threat scrawled on bathroom wall at plant

GEISMAR — Company and law enforcement officials are investigating a bomb threat found late Thursday morning written in a portable bathroom at the Westlake Vinyls Co. plant in Ascension Parish, officials said.

Dave Hansen, corporate spokesman for Houston-based Westlake, said in an email that the threat warned the bomb would be detonated between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.

Trooper Jared Sandifer, spokesman for State Police Troop A, said the threat was written as graffiti in one of the portable bathrooms, which Hansen said was in a construction area at the plant on La. 30 in Geismar.

A worker found the threat in the bathroom about 11 a.m., Sandifer said.
