More than half-a-million going hungry in breadline Britain

More than half-a-million people are going hungry in Britain – tens of thousands more than previously thought.

They are struggling to feed themselves as unemployment, rising food prices and, in particular, benefit cutbacks bite hard.

Destitution, hardship and hunger are now even worse than feared, according to Oxfam, one of the charities highlighting the crisis.
