I would vote to quit EU, says Michael Gove

Michael Gove has become the most senior member of the Conservative party to admit he would vote to leave the EU in the event of an immediate referendum.

The education secretary said a UK exit would be “perfectly tolerable” and even bring some benefits.

His comments come as about 100 Tory backbenchers say they will support a motion that condemns the Queen’s Speech for not including details of a vote on EU membership.
