Four adult elephants killed by speeding train

Four adult elephants were killed by a speeding passenger train in eastern India after the driver failed to see them in time as their herd crossed the railway tracks, a state government minister said.

The express train hit the animals near the forests of Marghat in West Bengal state, some 385 miles (620 kilometres) north of the state capital Kolkata, said Hiten Barman, the forest minister.
