Israel to boycott UN human rights review

Israel said it was boycotting a UN meeting due to review its human rights record, in a move advocacy groups warned would undermine the watchdog’s authority and set a negative precedent for other countries.

A foreign ministry official confirmed that Israel, which accuses the UN of anti-Israel bias and stopped co-operating with its human rights organisations last year, would not be attending a universal periodic review of its human rights record, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Geneva.
