Hungary Wants Exit From EU Fiscal Curbs as Elections Draw Nearer

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will seek to persuade officials in Brussels today to free his government from European Union budget shackles in the run-up to 2014 elections.

Orban, in the Belgian capital for one day, meets with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, EU President Herman van Rompuy and European Parliament President Martin Schulz and will hold a joint briefing with Barroso at 3:30 p.m. The EU this week called his budget policies unsustainable.
