News Boss Goes As BBC Slammed In Savile Report

The decision to drop the BBC Newsnight broadcast about Jimmy Savile was "seriously flawed", a report has concluded.

A review headed by Nick Pollard, former head of Sky News, said that leadership and organisation relating to the decision were in "short supply".

The BBC reacted to the report by announcing that Stephen Mitchell, the corporation's deputy director of news, had resigned after 38 years.
