Marcos Sarinana Gurrola charged with firing 54 rounds at crowded California mall 'because it made him feel better'

A California man has been charged Tuesday with more than 50 counts of firing a gun outside a Newport Beach mall over the weekend.

Marcos Sarinana Gurrola was charged with 54 counts of discharging a semi-automatic handgun in public and two counts of assault because a mother and her four-year-old daughter were knocked down and injured as they fled.

The 42-year-old unemployed security guard also was charged with 10 more counts after prosecutors linked him to a similar shooting in 2011 at the same mall.

No one was hit in either shooting at Fashion Island.
