Oil Rig Fire Leaves Two Dead Off US Coast

At least two people have died and two more are missing after an explosion on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, a US Coast Guard spokesman confirmed.

Four more people were airlifted to hospital. Chief Petty Officer Bobby Nash did not immediately have information on their condition.

The explosion took place on a shallow-water production platform owned by Black Elk Energy about 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana.
