Schoolboy, 16, arrested on suspicion of stabbing his mother to death at their family home in Dorset

A schoolboy was arrested on suspicion of murdering his own mother last night.

The 16-year-old was being questioned by detectives after a middle-aged woman was found stabbed to death in her family home in Weymouth, Dorset.

Armed police officers who were seconded in for the Olympics were involved in the search for the teenager, who was arrested at Portland.

A police spokesman said: 'At 1.06pm on Saturday 21 July 2012 Dorset Police received a report that a woman had been injured within an address.

'Officers attended and the body of a woman was discovered.

'The woman's death is being treated as suspicious and officers, assisted by the Force helicopter, searched the surrounding area.

'Investigators performed house-to-house inquiries.'

A cordon was put in place around the property while forensic experts examined the scene. Read More
