Kiaran Stapleton Guilty of Boxing Day murder of Anuj Bidve

Kiaran Stapleton,21, gunned down Anuj Bidve at point blank range as the student walked with a group of friends through Salford in the early hours of the morning toward the Boxing Day sales in central Manchester last year.

Stapleton, who dubbed himself "Psycho" at an earlier hearing, now faces a life sentence after a trial at Manchester Crown court. He will be sentenced tomorrow by trial judge Mr Justice King.

The factory worker had denied murder but admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.But the jury took just 90 minutes to reject his "mad not bad " claim that he was suffering from a mental abnormality when he shot Anuj.

The Indian student had left his home in Pune, India last September to take a post graduate micro electronics course at Lancaster University. Read More
