Emergency services searching a quarry for a missing 14-year-old boy have found a body.

West Midlands Police said the body of a young male was recovered from the water in the quarry, in Lower Gornal in Dudley, West Midlands, at 8.26pm.

The body has been removed from the area of water, which is close to the Crooked House Pub, and the coroner will be informed.

The teenager has not been formally identified at this stage.

Police said the teenager had been with friends at the quarry and they had tried to rescue him before calling the emergency services.

Police were called at 1.17pm by the ambulance service to a report of a teenage boy having gone missing.

Officers arrived at the scene and it quickly became apparent the boy, who was with friends, had fallen into the water earlier, the police spokeswoman said. Read More
