Doug’s Everglades Tours: Alligator bites off airboat captain's hand in front of horrified tourists after he taunted it with marshmallows

An airboat captain from Everglades City, Florida, had his hand ripped off by an alligator while he was allegedly feeding the animal on Tuesday.

Witnesses said the victim, an employee of Captain Doug’s Everglades Tours known as Captain Wally, was seen feeding an alligator marshmallows minutes before the animal bit off his hand.

Incredibly, the severed limb was later retrieved from the reptile's stomach when officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) tracked down and killed the gator.

According to WINK News, the attack happened at around 3:45pm when Captain Wally took a group of six people for a ride on the water.

Witnesses said the airboat captain was conscious when he arrived back at the dock following the attack. The injured man was then rushed a Naples hospital, according to FWC spokesperson Carli Segelson. Read More
