Charles Morrell Ball charged with Arson after crashing gasoline doused SUV into building within a mile of the White House

The man accused of driving an gasoline doused SUV into an Washington office building on Friday evening has been charged with arson and other counts, authorities said.

Charles Morrell Ball, 32, of New Market, Maryland, has also been charged with destruction of property and unauthorized use of vehicle, according to Gwendolyn Crump, a spokeswoman for District of Columbia police.

The red jeep, which was allegedly intentionally doused with gasoline, crashed into the Washington Square building in the 1000 block of Connecticut Avenue, N.W., around 7.45pm yesterday.

Authorities had said previously that they believed the driver intentionally crashed into the office building Friday night. The vehicle had been reported stolen. Read More
