The mother of the children who were killed on Tuesday rang police the night before their bodies were found, concerned they had not returned from a custodial visit.But officers did not start looking for the children until the next morning.
Michael Chisholm, his four year-old son Julian, and eight-year-old daughter Aaliyah Webb were later found dead in a suburban unit.
