Helicopter Ditches In Sea Near Aberdeen

A helicopter carrying 16 people has ditched in the North Sea off Aberdeen, police say.

Stephen Bond from Bond Air Services said an oil light pressure warning light came on in the chopper, so the pilot began a controlled descent 25 miles off the coast of Aberdeen

The 14 passengers and two crew members are all in a life raft currently awaiting rescue, Mr Bond said.

Coastguard Susan Todd told Sky News none of those who were on board appear to be injured.

Rescue boats and helicopters are on the way to the area.

Grampian police said the chopper was forced down at 12.15pm. More to Follow..
