Anger over foreign worker import plan, Australia

The Government is facing an angry backlash from unions and within its own ranks over its decision to allow billionaire mining magnate Gina Rinehart to import more than 1,700 foreign workers to a mining project in Western Australia.

The Federal Government has approved an Enterprise Migration Agreement for Gina Rinehart's $9 billion Roy Hill Iron Ore project in the Pilbara.

Ms Rinehart, recently named , has long called for easier access to foreign temporary workers to help fill shortages.

Yesterday, a series of union figures, including Australian Manufacturing Workers Union's Paul Howes, as 'sheer lunacy', and accused the Government of caving in to Ms Rinehart. Read More
