The McDonald’s worker who claims she scooped last week’s world record lottery prize is now saying she has lost the winning ticket.
Her co-workers at the fast food restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland, fear Haitian immigrant Mirlande Wilson is hiding the ticket to avoid paying what they insist is their share of the more than $100 million (£63 million) prize.
Lottery officials in Maryland confirm that no one has come forward to claim the prize a week after the draw.
The winning ticket was bought at a 7-Eleven grocery store near the McDonald’s restaurant where Miss Wilson, a mother-of-seven, worked.
Her colleagues say she bought the ticket on behalf of a work syndicate – but she insists the winning numbers were on one she purchased separately for herself.
Since the draw, however, she has failed to produce the ticket, and has given a series of outlandish explanations for where it is. more
