Florida panther found dead in south Lee County

A male Florida panther was killed by a vehicle last week in south Lee County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The remains of the panther, approximately 3 to 4 years old, were collected Monday on Alico Road, near Airport Haul Road.

This is the ninth panther mortality and fourth road mortality for 2012.

The carcass is currently at the FWC Naples Field Office and will ultimately be transported to the FWC Wildlife Research Lab in Gainesville for a complete necropsy.

The remains will be archived at the Florida Museum of Natural History. Source
