Dead Whale Washed Up On San Simeon Beach

San Simeon, CA -- It’s best to steer clear of that dead gray whale lying on the beach south of San Simeon about 300 yards south of Vista Del Mar, the southernmost street in San Simeon’s motel and residential areas, and approximately a mile north of San Simeon Creek. The whale, a 2-year-old female just over 30 feet long, was discovered on Saturday.

By Monday the whale was reportedly already fairly decomposed. It does not appear to have been attacked by killer whales. State parks personnel advise not to go near the malodorous whale, especially with pets. Source
