Peter Rowell a Former BBC and ITV presenter jailed for six years for string of sex attacks on young girls

A former BBC and ITV presenter has been jailed for six years after admitting to a string of sexual assaults on 'starstruck' schoolgirls.

Peter Rowell, from South Gloucestershire, used his position as a DJ on a local radio station to groom and abuse impressionable young girls.

The married father of one from Wickwar pleaded guilty at Bristol Crown Court to indecent assault and to making and possessing indecent photos of children.

He used his celebrity status to groom the teenagers, inviting them for a tour of his studio, where he would sexually abuse them.

He admitted 12 counts of indecent assault after complaints from five women, who he assaulted between 1989 and the early 1990s when they were aged from 13 to 16, the court heard.

Rowell admitted six counts of making indecent photographs of children, which range from levels one to four - five being the most serious category.

He also pleaded guilty to the possession of 464 indecent images, found in his possession in January 2011. Read More
