A 46-year-old woman has been accused of locking her newborn twins in her car while she went shopping in a mall.Amanda Nejat allegedly left the 11-week-old babies alone for as long as 40 minutes while she returned items to stores in Pleasanton, California.
She was later charged with two counts of child endangerment and pleaded not guilty at Alameda County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Another shopper was walking through the parking lot when she heard cries from inside a Cadillac Escalade and peeked through the tinted glass.
Seeing no adult and the two babies in child seats, she alerted Pleasanton police and then security officers at Stoneridge Mall.
Security waited at the vehicle until Nejat, who lives in nearby Danville, returned. She was told to wait for police officers. Read More
