Vigilante justice on the rise in Detroit as 'justifiable homicides' jump 79 per cent in last year



Vigilante justice is on the rise in Detroit, according to new reports.

Statistics show residents in crime-ridden neighbourhoods are taking matters into their own hands as citizens cope with alarmingly high response times and cuts to the police force.

Detroit reported 34 self-defence killings in 2011 - a 79 per cent increase from the previous year - marking the rate of 'justifiable homicides' 2,200 per cent above the national average. Read More
