Syria condemns "Friends of Syria" conference

Syria has rejected and condemned all decisions and comments made at the "Friends of Syria" conference in Tunisia.

Syria's state television says the government rejects any calls to arm the opposition, saying it would hurt the Syrian people and their hope for peace and stability.

On Friday, delegates from some 70 countries and regions gathered in Tunisia to pressure the UN to enforce an immediate ceasefire in Syria, to allow humanitarian aid to enter the country.

The meeting agreed on tougher sanctions against President Bashar al-Assad's government, including severing diplomatic ties.

Delegates also decided to set up an Arab peacekeeping force to ensure stability during Syria's democratic transition. Source
