Midwest braces a FOOT of snow and blizzard-like conditions after unseasonably mild winter

A ferocious storm system is barrelling toward the upper Midwest this evening and could dump as much as ten inches of snow in some areas - a rude awakening for many who were enjoying an unseasonably mild winter.

The storm, brought from the Rockies, will move into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest and bring with it howling winds and whiteout conditions.

This will be the first snow storm in quite some time for what has been a quite mild winter.

Blizzard watches are in effect from the Northern Plains through Wisconsin as blustery winds up to 30 mph will blow the newly fallen snow into air.
