A Long Island car dealership had plenty of cars, but no way to drive them after thieves targeted the wheels.
It happened overnight at the Merrick Dodge on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh. A worker arrived at about 6 a.m. to find the mess that was left behind.
Police say that all four tires and rims were stolen from seven new vehicles parked in the dealership lot. The vehicles were all left lying on top of bricks.
The estimated value of the missing wheels is $26,000.
Police did not have any description of the suspects. They asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
Nassau County police officers are investigating a rash of tire and rim thefts that leave victims with their cars on piles of bricks. Last week, five cars parked in front of private homes were hit. source
