SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. – The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Simpson County, Kentucky on Thursday afternoon.
A home on McKendree Church Road, just off of Highway 100, was destroyed by the storm. The roof was blown off the home and several rooms destroyed.
The owners of the home, Will and Elanore Brown, were not home when the storm hit. They were in Nashville for a doctor's appointment, but said it is incredible how much damage was done.
Officials said several other homes in the area also suffered storm damage, though none was as severe as the home on McKendree Church Road.
The storm left behind a two mile path of destruction.
Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado had touched down in Rutherford County, Tennessee, near Smyrna. Source
