Information Being Sought About Dead Pelicans, Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara - Fish and Wildlife agents issue a new plea to the public after a series of abuse cases involving brown pelicans.

The most recent pelican turned up dead Wednesday in the waters off the coast in Oxnard mutilated with a broken beak and wing.

Wildlife experts say it had been dead for awhile. The discovery prompted the offer of a $1,500 reward.

Five other pelicans were discovered along Santa Barbara's waterfront in recent weeks, all suffering from an intentionally broken wing, snapped in half. Each of the birds had to be euthanized.

A Fish and Wildlife agent out of Los Angeles confirms the six cases are under investigation and they're looking to the public for help. Source
